U.S. politician and president. Born on July 14, 1913, in Omaha, Nebraska, USA. Ford won his first political position in 1949, becoming a Republican member of the U.S. House of Representatives. He was part to the Warren Commission, which investigated the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
Ford became the 38th president of the United States on August 9, 1974. As president, he struggled with the major economic problems of the day-inflation and recession. He acted as a moderate force, working to maintain relations with the Soviet Union and diffuse tensions in the Middle East. Gerald Ford passed away on December 26, 2006 at the age of 93.
